    hi guys!!i want to buy an alienware m17x r3 from a friend and it has the 560m gtx with the 1080p 3D screen.can i upgrade to 7970m with this screen or it's not possible?thx!! :)

    Vaguely remember reading on another thread that it inst possible.

    Not sure aboutt he 680m though.

    joe is right...with the 3d screen, you need to stick with an nvidia card...so the 680m...however, just to complicate things, if you install a 680m into the m17x R3, the card will work, but you lose 3d functionality because the 680m isn't officially supported

    so to install 7970m i need to change the screen to non 3d version eh?damn that's bad..... :/

    yes that's correct. Widezu replaced his 120hz screen temporarily to a 60hz screen to test the 7970m, so its possible...However, to me, it seems like a lot of trouble to go down this route just to install a 7970m

    The 7970m isnt cheap so unless your getting an exceptional deal may be best to get a new one. then again, if it is an exceptional deal, im sure you could live with a 560m?

    i cant live with 560m cuz the laptop i have now it has 6970m!!so i can't go backwards!!anyway i ll keap this one i have and i ll buy 7970m for it!!thx for the help guys!!! :)
