    umm my ad hoc connection seems to fail almost every time and i know it is not my phone any ideas

    buy pdanet and don't worry about it. the Verizon tether is worthless & the Rooted version is full of bugs depending on which machine your trying to use it on. its $15 and all u have to do is connect it.

    i use Easytether I have the Droid X and it works Great on my M17-X2 and its only $9.95 on the app store

    I never had issue with wifi tether app either.
    How do you know it's not the phone? did you try it with other computers?
    are you sure your phone is rooted?

    yes i tried it with my sister's ipod touch worked fine
