I'd honestly say save up or look at a cheaper laptop. You aren't going to find a decent spec'd new M17x r4 for that price. :( You could see what clevo, and Asus and the other manufacturers have available though. Maybe they have something cheaper that will fit in your budget.

This. If you're set on Alienware, you could at the M14x or an older generation M17x.

Wait for Dell Outlet's 30% off coupon. I got an R4 w/ 3610qm and 7970M card for $1310. Just have to constantly look when they have the deals.

The outlet sells refurbs so they are a little bit cheaper...THe coupon is an additional rebate ontop of the price that dell offers from time to time

But keep in mind. Alienware are premium products and carry premium pricetags...i'd do as BigT suggest above: save up a bit more cash and do it right. iF you already have 1300, then save up a few more...or you could always go with something cheaper?

I'm going to suggest Ebay. It will likely be out of warranty, or close to it, but you can find a great deal if you are patient and keep your eyes open.

I purchased my M17X R4 from Ebay for $1600. It's specs are 8GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, 750 GB HD, bluetooth, killer-n wireless card, 3630qm processor and 7970m graphics card. For that price it would have cost me roughly $2600 to configure that same model on the official website. Only issue was, the warranty only had 2 months left on it. If you can live with that, I would suggest keeping your eye on Ebay. You will often find guys who purchased sometime last year who simply don't use it enough, or they desperately need money now that they will part with their laptops for a fraction of what they paid for them. My experience has been very positive, so yeah, GOOD LUCK!!!

Check the notebook bargains forum here. ThEy post the latest dell outlet coupons. Youll have to wait for the next one. Also, not all of the laptops in the outlet are refurbished. Mine was new.
