    had my laptop just shut off on me. tried to reboot and got 6 beeps. did a power drain and it booted after that. ran diagnostics and it all passed. screen has flickered on me twice since.

    yup looks like a video card failure. I would ring up dell and see if you could get it replaced before it fails completely.
