    I have been testing a few games.. and depending on te gam, the temp varies. Hawken seems to be runing at low 70's. Skyrim seems to run at 60's.
    If anyone can give me some idea at about what temps and the game you are runing, i would appreciate it, to gauge if i need to repaste, or if i am good.

    also, I did notice something nice. As oposed to my old 6970 that would jump 20 degrees whne hooking a second monitor, it seems the 7970 does not get any hotter with a secondary screen :)

    anyways, thanks in advance

    My 7970m has not rised above 65 C ever in the 2 months that I have owned it. I do not use a laptop cooler but I do have a stand that raises the laptop and provides an air gap underneath it.

    You people have R4's, ricard2798 has an R2 if I remember correctly. Temps are a bit different there (and also the consequences, like thermal shutdowns appear at earlier temps then R4) :)

    The temps you name, for the games you name, are perfectly fine.
    Try something a bit heavier (Battlefield 3, Crysis 2) and see what the temp does after a while.

    True that, but it's not like the same card would be running at 20 degrees lower on an R2 vs an R4... So just saying that there is no problems with the 7970m itself, and those temps are perfectly normal for the card. Don't know about the R2 chassis or thermal limits however :rolleyes:

    It shuts down at a bit over 80 degrees basically ^^
    So has a little less headroom when it comes to heat. But agreeing fully with you, the numbers stated are perfectly fine temps :thumbsup:

    For the card they are, but if it shuts down at a bit over 80...

    He's already in 70s, so if fans get dirty and he plays more intensive games.. must keep an eye on the temps. Get some thermal compound in there :p

    I ran a 15-min BIT in FurMark and mine ran at 103... pretty hot and it never throttled or shutdown.

    Those are good temps, remember to keep an eye on the CPU as well. HWinfo64 is a pretty good tool to monitor temperatures.

    I bet that could be my prolem.. CPU.
    I setted up HWINFO to change the gpu fans, but left the cpu fan untouched.. do I need to set it up as well? and if so, what the the rpms per threshold?
    0=?
    40=?
    50=?
    60=?
    70=?
    80=?

    Ok, i tested for about 20 minutes fo battlefield, in the close quarter maps.. and I was runing on 72-ish.
    According to HWinfo the max it has been (which has been a 3 day run) has been 76. guess i am borderline safe. I still beleive my problem might be CPU colling... once someone shares their table for CPU cooling, i will implement and report :)

    Ok, i did muertes sugestion, and played BF2 for 2 hours, designated maps, etc... at ultra settings.
    My temps where average of 66, but i think my max was at 72 (and i beleived that happend whne I played in windowed mode (work call).
    Does that sound safe enough?
    I guess that hawken really stresses the card... oddly enough, the card in hawken seems to get hotter in the menus, rather than in the game :p go figure
