    Hey guys,

I posted this in respective threads a while ago with no response. I have an r2 with i7 720qm/dual 5870's xfire/4 gig 1333 ram.

What I've noticed when i run benchmarks (vantage/heaven) is that when i have one card running, the fps counter is fairly accurate with the fluidity of the animation.

But when i have crossfire working, the animation appears to be choppy (~ 10 fps) but the fps counter is displaying 30 frames per second.

A perfect example would be the heaven dx11 benchmark. It looks like its running at 10-12 fps, but the counter says 30.

Can anyone else test their dual 5870's with the heaven benchmark?

    thanks alot

My DX11 run nets me 36.4fps. See attached image for settings.

    On DX10, with normal settings, I get 60.9. ( native res - high shaders - 4 anis - no AA )

I'm running Dell drivers with a fresh install of Windows.

As to your issue, try reinstalling everything, let us know how that goes.

I'm betting you are getting your share of microstuttering. In Crossfire/SLI setups, at fps of around 35 or lower, there is a time difference between the frames rendered by the individual cards. For example, one 5870 might have an fps of 20, but it will look more fluid than 5870 CF at 30.

hmm could be. I thought microstuttering was a thing of the past. Once this games finishes downloading i'm going to reformat and intall everything fresh and see what happens

is furmark a good way to see if my video cards are both in good working order? This ridiculous stutter and artifacting in heaven bench 2.1 has me thinking maybe i have a dud card.

Just a thought, but why not try out some games? I assume that this laptop of your was purchased to do so? Or did you simply want a machine that could go through benchmarks easily?
