ok so my m17x r1 broke down and i was sent a refurbrished model r2 from dell. This replacements had a faulty screen and a power adapter that wasnt even compatible with the alienware. I called dell and i had to send it back in for repairs. I just recieved my replacement today. The power adapter worked but the screen had a lind down it with dead black pixels. then after playing 5 minuts of black ops my computer shuts down the power adapter's blue light is no longer on and my computer wont turn on.
I've been waiting to get my computer working for ever now it seems. Any help on how i can get dell to get it right? Can i use this to just get a brand new laptop that will actually work?

Seems like people with busted R2's have been getting them replaced with m18x's since its got dual GPU's

this is interesting. I wouldnt mind an m18x. my last alienware had sli's and i was dissapointed when the r2 didnt have crossfire.
is there anything i should do when i call dell back to possibly get the m18x?

Yeah. Shout at them for screwing it up. Also, you had a dual GPU machine before, do not accept a single GPU machine now; they are legally required to replace your original machine with a machine with equal or better performance. (Although in all fairness if they offered you an M17x R3 with an ATi 6970M, that's faster than even the best SLi configs that were available on the R1) Don't take no for an answer, be firm.

Just point out that it's absolutely rediculous that you've had two faulty replacements and demand an M18x with dual GPUs (or an M17x with a 6970M). Perhaps try threatening legal action.

i almost did shout at them on the phone today. but i know thatll get me no where.
good point though ill remind them i had a dual gpu set up and also that it is very ridiculous that i have had 2 faulty machines now.

This is coming from someone who has been fighting with them for a proper replacement for my m1730 for about 3 weeks now and I just now finally got the go ahead for a brand new m18x most likely, getting the call today. Do not shout at them, it will only make them hang up on you, request whoever you calls higher up no matter who it is because you always will get someone that has to go ask someone higher than them, if they offer you a system that you know is inferior tell them the specifics of why it is instead of just saying "no mine is better it has 2" because they are required to replace with equal or better performance not equal or better quantity or price, also if you actually talk to a woman on the phone BE AS NICE AS YOU CAN BECAUSE THEY ARE THE MOST HELPFUL, I was on the phone for about 13 hours with a bunch of stubborn idiots then I got my first woman agent and in 30 minutes she fought for me to get a brand new computer upgraded because of everything, she didnt try to figure out what was best for my system she asked me exactly what I wanted and they are building a new system to my liking. :)

Ok so i called and got a friendly person on my first call. I am not getting an m18x but i am getting an upgraded r2. idk if i should be happy haha.

my r1 had a core 2 duo and 4 gigs or ram and 2 nvidia gtx 285
my faulty r2 replacement had a core i5 and an ati 5870 and 4 gigs or ram
the new one im getting is an r2 with an extreme edition corei7 8gigs of ram and an ati 5870.
should i just out right ask for an m18x

edit: i just spoke with a super and it turns out my r2 that im recieving will indeed have dual 5870 graphics cards. I'd say im happy with this = ]

sounds good man :) they say what the warranty status is going to be on it? will your original one just continue or will they send it to you with a new one? might be something to figure out ahead of time in case something else happens (heaven forbid!)
