I am downloading 285.62 with a modded inf, currently I am running the stock dell driver. Looking for improved performance in Civ V, FSX and Battlefield 3. Furmark listed my score as a 1208 @ 73C, that seems really low to me.

You don't need a modded inf for the 580m. Just download it straight from nvidia. Best option for the 580m.

I tried the one from nvidia but it said my graphics card was not supported. I downloaded the modded one and it installed.

Hm, strange. Worked fine with mine. Anyways you got it installed so no problems. Should give a nice boost for BF3.

compared to the stock dell driver, the 285.xx is a huge leap in bf3. You'll be impressed with it

Hey I've pushed it to around 845 core, 1690 shader and 2000 mem. Gives me a Vantage GPU score of 18.3k and an overall of just over 20k. Check the benchmark thread :)

FPS did improve. I noticed when running furmark it would downclock dramatically when it got to 79* and would go back to normal clocks once it dropped a degree. It would freeze for half a second, almost like the stuttering I have in FSX. I had to run HWINFO to force the fans on, for some reason they are not kicking on early enough. Once I used hwinfo to tweak the fans I didn't get over 74* on furmark. Do I have enough room to o/c it?

Yeah with a repaste, and propping the laptop up to allow good air flow. I don't hit the 79C limit.
