Sorry if this has been covered already, but I'm just wondering what I can safely remove and what I should keep with the bloatware.

I can see on my desktop the following dodgy bloaty looking things:
    SyncUP
    Zino Reader 4
    MySyncUP files

Task manager shows this unknown processes:
    Toaster.exe (Alien Respawn)

    Taskbar shows:
    Stage remote
    Alien Respawn

Is any of this stuff useful or just bloat?

Is there anything else not immediately visible that I should be looking to uninstall?

    Thanks

Not sure about the rest... but Alien Respawn is NOT bloatware. Keep this and use it. You need this to access your recovery partition. And you should also use it to immediatly create your emergency recovery media.

Should this be used instead of windows backup?

Hello Alien, you could disable a bunch of applications from the start up of your computer. Let me know if you need help on how to do that.
But AlienRespawn is meant to be a better Recovery Tool, it will bring back all the drivers and original system configuration.

Use windows Backup to create images of your drive regularly incase of a drive failure.

But absolutely use Alien Respawn to create recovery disk's. They will save you in the event your loose your recovery partition.

Also, Alien Respawn can create images of your drive. But only if you buy the full version
