    do this:

Click the start menu. on the right there will be a link that says COMPUTER, click that. that should open up a screen that says

if it's a DVD drive it will say that ^^^
if it says BD, or blue-ray or anything other then DVD RW DRIVE, then it's the blue ray.

i had to read that like 4 times before i understood what was being asked.

You can do the following to check which drive you have:
    • Start > Computer > right-click on a drive letter > Properties > Hardware.
    • Look at the items that have "DVD/CD-ROM drives" in the second column. (You should only have 1, unless you've got some sort of virtual drive software.)
    • If the name contains UJ-235A, you have a Blu-ray writer.
    • If the name contains CA10N, you have a Blu-ray reader / DVD writer.
    • If the name contains TS-T633C, you have a DVD writer that cannot handle Blu-ray discs.

It's possible that Dell have other drives that they've used on M17x systems, but I believe that these are the main 3.

    Guys, what is this?
With NBR being an international forum I believe that we should try being reasonable to other members for whom English is not their native language .
I'd you feel that a member doesn't respect the rules, there's always the report button.

    Thank you.
Shona, I believe your question was answered and I'm sorry for your experience.
    NBR is a great place.
If you believe that there are still technical issues with your laptop after the intervention , try to contact Dell support.

Apart from the BR drive I'd be rightly pissed off that they downgraded the LCD panel, for me that would be unacceptable, I do however understand that 1920/1200 lcd panels are not in stock right now in Europe and have been like that for about 3 months

Have they agreed to get you the correct LCD panel when they become available ?
