hi all,
ive had my m17xr3 for about 4months and i love it, however i keep getting blue screen of death on it more than ever in last few weeks, ive re-installed windows with the supplied disk and im still getting the error, i tend to get one once a day more so if the laptop is left to go idle for a while then i start to move the mouse or whilst playing a game...
i have the mini dump file is there anyone that knows how to read it to tell me whats causing it?
cheers

What are your system specs? Use mine as an example.

Hello, you can download WhoCrashed to analyse your dump files.
Just open this little software, press analyse and scroll down for more info on every crash you had. -
using whocrashed its says it was caused by the following
On Mon 26/12/2011 12:12:29 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\122611-27300-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: igdkmd64.sys (igdkmd64+0x27C6E3)

Try updating the HD3000 drivers from Welcome to Dell Technical Support and see if that helps. Also make sure you update to the latest nvidia one after.

Does your computer have Optimus? If yes, then install new Intel graphics drivers from here. If no, then why do you even have Intel HD Graphics drivers installed? Uninstall those drivers and it should go away.

Try installing the drivers like this:
Uninstall both Nvidia and Intel drivers. Download the ones provided by Alienware and install both (Install Intel, then Nvidia). Keep it like this for a week or two and see if it crashes. If it does, it could possibly be a hardware problem. I say possibly, because there still can be other reasons but I think you can contact Alienware and see what they say. If it doesn't, then update the Nvidia driver and wait a while more. If it's still stable, then update the Intel driver. If at the later points when you upgrade the drivers and it bsods, then it is a driver problem and you simply need to stay with the Alienware drivers. -
all with the same reason but different to above details are below?

disable the integrated GPU and run on nvidia, if the bsod does not stop, then something at the hardware level is wrong unfortunately
reseat your ram, integrated GPU uses your ram after all

Sadly I think it's a hardware problem, you'll have to contact Alienware for an RMA and explain that all software based solutions did not work.

thanks for all your help
