its plug and play. All you need is a second hard drive to put in the included caddy. ;) If you are gonna grab an SSD, I'd suggest buying one off newegg or a site like that and installing yourself. You can save quite a bit of $$ this way ;)

thanks for the help guys. i have a 120gb intel in my other laptop and a 80gb intel in my desktop. no problems so far so thats what i was wanting to put in the new laptop but the intel 510 250gb are $$$

@bigtonyman i looked on newegg first for the 510 and just looked up the samsung 470 Newegg.com - SAMSUNG 470 Series MZ-5PA256B/AM 2.5" 256GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) w/ Norton Ghost 15 they are 375. havent really shopped around but the upgrade is only 400, so to me its worth 25$ and a spare 500gb drive to not have the hassle. this is also a christmas gift to myself that im going to take to my moms and put under the tree and not open til christmas so unless its a big savings id prefer it just work out of the box. (looking to recapture that christmas feeling of youth...and its working cause i cant wait)

also anyone know what all size 2.5 inch drives will fit? 9.5, 12mm?

you look at the crucial M4? Its a bit more expensive but its SATA 3 not sata 2. You could also get the 128GB version and save more $$. Its all up to you, if you wanna save some case do it yourself, or have one that works out of the box but pay a ripoff price for it.

I would have listened to this advice... right now craving for an intel 510 (still any SSD is good though :) but you will get half the performance of a SATA 3 :()
