recently overclocked my cpu to the maximum bios allowed 5% and my alienware has been blue screening overnight. i've never actually seen it, but ill leave the laptop on overnight and in the morning i find that it has rebooted. once i logon, i get the notice my laptop has blue screened with the error bugcode_usb_driver.

anyone familiar with this? there's no threads on this forum about it, and from what i can tell from a quick google search users have mentioned underpowered usb accessories...but all i have is a logitech unifying receiver plugged in (that's worked with no errors for months til now), that's it. can somebody help?

*here's the actual error that i pulled from nirsoft's bluescreenview:

I've got this bsod once can't remember how it was triggered but it hasn't repeated , I don't have any type of oc so maybe it's a random bsod not related to your oc

I would try to increase the CPU coltage 75mV and see if it happens again. Maybe your CPU isn't stable at stock voltage. CPU's can vary like that.

Not only that but it could be your ram too.
I know my 8gb 1333 ram will not go above 1333 (stable) no matter how much voltage I throw at it and I would get blue screens with usb and other error codes.
If I leave my ram at 1333 (no bios oc) then it is rock solid.
So now I just oc with throttlestop and everything is peachy.

    Just a thought.

I get a combination of this bugcode blue screen and random restarts whenever I have the TDP set too high and have some USB devices plugged in. Seems like the power pack just can't handle it and trips. Doesn't happen instantly - sometimes it takes hours, sometimes days, but eventually I get either of the two (no particular scenario as it has happened during idle and also under load). Never have this problem when the TDP is at default setting.
