hi everyone. I recently bought a benq xl2411z 144hz monitor to use with my m17x r4 that has an amd 7970m in it. Since i cant use the dual link dvi cable that comes with the monitor, i am searching for another solution to get 120/144hz display from my monitor. How can i recieve 120/144hz from my monitor with this laptop? Which cable/converter setup do i need make this possible?

Isn't DisplayPort with new-version cable capable of that? It should work AFAIK.

so you suggest a mini display(i have a mini display port on this m17x r4) to dual link dvi converter i guess
btw i want 144/120hz with 1920*1080(i can get 120hz on lower resolutions with the cables i already have.)

If you ask me for sure then im not sure because I never even used DisplayPort, just HDMI. Just follow my advice and try to find some info about DVI-D and DisplayPort

Yeah, I agree with GodlikeRU. I know the mini-display port is the same technology as dual-link DVI with audio so a simple converter should suffice. The problem I recall seeing is that there are a few flavors of DVI and whether you need an active or passive adapter is the biggie? Active adapters are expensive so I'd say try a passive one unless someone else that has actually done this jumps in.

The mini DP port will drive a display up to the maximum stated for your graphics card. 1920x1080 @144hz should not be an issue for 7970m ;).
