hey guys,
theres n o specific help about this anywhere.
I've been through the "workaround=true" thing and i've done the driver sweeper thing (not in that order), and surprise surprise, it doesnt workl "there is no ati card installed in your system"
is this always going to be a problem on the alienware? i mean dells driver updates are sh!t and cripple the fck out my 4870's (inability to overclock, etc)
Can anyone tell me how I install these on an m17x?
thanks

Ok let me explain.
I have the 10.4 cats instLled. I do removal, sweeper in safe mode, reboot install supposed Dell 10.8 and the drivers show up as 10.4 after install, and I get bsod when I try to run games :-( -
if they're showing up as 10.4s then they are not being removed correctly. You need to go into device manager, uninstall via that method, make sure the box to delete the drivers is checked, remove the dell drivers in C:\Dell and driver sweep (do not sweep in safe mode)
after that, reboot, allow the standard vga driver to install, download the 10.8's from dell's site and install. the driver number will be 8.763 -

Ok I followed those instructions exactly, and it's no good. The pc restarts after the correct drivers are installed. And I get a bsod in atikmdag (or something like that...
Any ideas?
I'm never buying ati again. The drivers are the crappest drivers I have ever had the misfortune of trying to install.
I dread updating the f@&$ing drivers coz this happens every damned time.
Very disappointed. :-(
