any real world noticeable difference between these two ram speed? i know m17x r3 support both of these ram.
side note: anyone knows where the stock ram of m17x r3 located? are they located at the bottom panel or beneath the keyboard?

I upgrade my stock RAM to HyperX 1866Mhz PnP because I didn't think that the jump to 1600 would be very noticeable but from what I read 1600 hyperx is a lot better than the stock 1333.
You have two ram slots just underneath the bottom panel and then two more underneath the keyboard. If you have 4 GB you will find 2x2GB underneath the bottom panel and nother in the slot underneath the keyboard.
The difference between hyperx 1600 and 1866 is small in price so I recommend go with 1866. -

I don't think it's noticeable at all. It's a YMMV thing. Very few programs, a couple emulators maybe, benefit from the jump. Unless WEI scores mean that much to you.

Thanks for that article Wang, conclusion... Faster memory has no effect on gaming. Glad I just bought 1333.

The memory controller in the Core processors is already optimized to the point where faster speed memory makes a negligible performance difference. Unless you plan on overclocking a "K" version processor, there is no point in going with faster RAM.

Better CAS timing is pretty cool, but really, clocks mean almost nothing anymore. Most kids these days don't even know what FSB is.
Anyway, if the extra $25-30 per module doesn't affect your wallet, go for it. It looks cool, but you won't really see its heatspreaders as in desktops. I'd rather have a bottle of Johnnie Walker myself. To each his own. -
^ Cheers + Rep. (as soon as I get to a desktop).

You will benefit from faster RAM speeds when using the IGP.

Thanks for the post. I also have a dilema if go with 8GB 1600 or 16GB 1333 as I have modules for both. Currently working with 8GB setup as I think its enough.

compare 1333 with 1600mhz ram
