hello all ...... recently i have bought a alienware m17x r3 (3D)nebula red laptop ....... and what i have noticed is that the ideal temp of my cpu is around 50 to 53 degree celcius and my gpu temp is around 52 to 57 degree celcius ........ during furmark 1080p test the temperature went upto 71 degree celcius and during crysis2 game play at 1080p and HARDCORE settings the temperature of gpu reached a max upto 75 degree and cpu is 85degree celcius .............. is that a normal thing ?

    configuration: alienware m17x r3 ,nebula red ,3D vision , 8 gb 133mghzddr3 ram , intel core i7 2760 ,gtx 580m graphic card.

At long as its under 80C its fine. You may consider investing in repaste.

    Welcome to the forums!

What you're telling, is nothing un-usual. Its not dangerous, but if your CPU blasts up to 85 C*, i would suggest you to clean out your system. (Remove dust etc. from fans.) 85 C* for the CPU could potentially both lower the performance, aswell as the lifetime of it.

Remove dust from the system, also, if you're a more experienced guy, i would suggest you to do a re-paste with thermalpaste on your CPU-chip.

But - As i said, its not dangerous :)

    Good luck!

    - Scott.

yea 85C for a CPU temp is pretty high. I'd suggest cleaning out the fans and propping up the back of the laptop so the fans can get a bit better airflow. think of it as a free laptop cooler ;) i only hit 80C when i run Prime95 and furmark at the same time. gets a bit toasty even after a repaste :p but i don't think i'm gonna hit that much usage in real gaming for some time i hope
