So I'm now in my third day with my m17x and one thing I find a bit annoying are the fans noise.
is it normal? Do all m17x fans go nuts during gaming? And by nuts, I mean really loud.
The weird thing is that it's not even in graphic heavy games. I was playing D3 beta earlier today and the fans were on during the ENTIRE time. No exception. I even paused the game and went to eat 30 minutes and during these 30 minutes, the fans never stopped.

Is this normal? How can I "monitor" if my fans are normal?

I don't have anything else running in the background other then fraps to watch my fps. Could fraps be the culprist?

P.S: It seems that the fan working more is the one on the left of the laptop. When I put my hands behind, the right side is OK, the left side is throwing hot hot air.

    A bit more info.
I stopped fraps but it did not change anything.
During gameplay, I checked the hot air and I was wrong, it's mainly coming from the right side, not the left side.
About 10 seconds after I existed D3, the fans went 100% quiet! (Could it be the game itself? I will try Skyrim and Syndicate later today)

I ran HWMonitor during my gameplay of 30 minutes and my max temps on CPU are:
    Core 0: 75C
    Core 1: 74C
    Core 2: 71C
    Core 3: 68C
    Package: 76C

    These don't look terribly high?

For GPU, my max was 74C

The fans are not super quiet like ones on a desktop. My fans are pretty loud as well. I think what you are experiencing is normal. as soon as I shut my game, the fans spin down as the GPU immediately stops working and it starts cooling down naturally.

Try elevating the back of the laptop, a lot of noise is caused by sucking mass air through small spaces. Also, at 74C on your GPU (which is the right side) your fans are going to be running maxed out, which is why they are noisy.

I suspect elevating the back will drop your temps 10C and significantly reduce noise. It still won't be silent, but I find mine quieter than my old desktop. I use the Just Mobile Lazy Couch for mine, they work great, look nice, and are very portable. Plus, having it elevated puts it at a much more comfortable angle for use.

Thanks. I guess it's normal then.

I was looking for a laptop cooler that you could put on your laps. Looking at the Just Mobile Lazy Couch, it seems it's more for desks?
I definitely need to get some sort of cooler anyway as most of the times, the laptop is on my laps. I must admit that since I switched to a m17x, I might have to change that way of gaming as it's freaking heavy!
