My R2 is on it's way there as well. Im hoping that it gets repaired correctly and without incident.
I was also curious if anyone knew anything about this facility. -
My R2 came back (2-3 weeks ago) with slight scratches on the screen and palmrest. Also came back with loose screws in my fans. Not the fan screws, other randome screws. Just loose and bouncing around as the fan spun for the slave GPU. Inspect your system when it gets back. They replaced my GPUs and mobo. I had to have them send ME an LCD assembly, palmrest and new GPU fans. Then I replaced the components on my own and sent the the damaged goods. My screen still has the plastic film on it all bubbled up. I'm keeping it on there till I swap in my 6990's and Bigfoot killer card, probably tonight. Keeping it to prevent any scratches while I work on the system. I'm a perfectionist like that I guess

i sent my there at the beginning of the year and i received it 4 day after i shipped it. came back fully functional, no cosmetic damage and every screw tight.
-
My R2 had a lot of scuffs on the screen, had alot of loose screws etc. And it still wasn't fixed!
-
thanks guys i feel a little better from reading your comments .and notice it 50/50 but i would hope if anything did happen dell would make good on it .other than that i don't see the point of there status page because they don't give details of whats bin done what so ever.i don't understand the point of the status page if they aren't gonna update it with specific details

I had to send my M17x R2 to the Texas repair depot because of a botched at home repair (had to have some chassis parts replaced)
. Sent my M17x R2 to the depot last Monday and got it back last Thursday. The whole process only took 4 days, much less time than I was expecting.
It looks and runs perfectly (brand new condition). I had the privilege of removing the clear plastic covering on all of the new parts that were added . I couldn't find a single blemish or scratch anywhere.
Your mileage may vary, but for me the repair depot was top-notch service. This will be my go-to service option from now on, considering I have had terrible luck with the at home technicians. -
the laptop is still brand new i built it on the website just before they switched to the new stuff
-
I sent mine there and when I got it back the color scheme was rainbowed and the SSD was shot and there was a Vista disc in the drive. Nothing worked. I ended upi having Dell build me a new one from scratch. The upgraded the proc from a 920 to the 940.
After I received my new one I haven't had any issues with it.
Good luck!! -
I didn't see an specific address fr the repair depot you are referring to, only that it's in texas. Is this the repair depot http://www.productsupportservices.com/who-we-
work-with/
If yes, my company has had positive experiences with them. -
well my baby is on its way home from the repair depot and this is whats bin replaced
Certified Technicians performed diagnostics on the defective unit and actions can consist of repair to connections, reseating components, or replacement of defective parts which are listed below :
14M8C - Board
V4THJ - Board
not really sure what these boards are but i just hope it comes back safe and sound and FIXED! lol -
anyone know what those boards are by chance
-
not really sure what the company is they use only ifo they told me was that it was being sent to the houston texas repair depot and that was just on the return slip to send my laptop in
-
-
hmm ok when i sent it in i was having the MORSE-code-like sound like some people are going through here but im wondering what on the graphics or motherboard would cause this?
-
so i just got my laptop back today was happy until i unpacked it noticed the battery in it wasn't the same one i sent it off with and it was scratched all to hell then further inspecting the laptop i noticed a very strong electronics burnt smell i mean very strong, also the palm rest wasn't put back in the right way.and on top of that the problem i sent it in for isn't even fixed. ok so i called dell got transferred around to 5 people finally i got to one guy told him the hole story he kept putting me on hold saying he was on the line with higher tier tech support to try to resolve the issue after being on hold for an hour he asks me to take some picturs of the scratches i said ok np was very nice ok puts me on hold again for another hour he comes back i ask him what gonna be the solution he has no idea he says and then askes me to email him my cell number so he can call me back in 30 minutes with a solution that was 8 hours ago so what do i do now? i powered on the laptop reinstalled windows and everything went good except for that wierd annoying sound that didnt go away when they replaced both vga cards and the motherboard
-
I think it is time to start pushing for a replacement laptop. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you are having.
-
well it seems like there trying to fix it so i will let them cuz i mean it seems like there trying atleast spent a cpl hours on the phone with a tech today he was pretty nice and understanding i told him the hole situation there sending me a new SSD drive and a new battery because the one i sent the laptop off with was all scratched to hell. this is whats wierd though the wierd noise i have coming from the laptop , the tech had me take out the SSD drive and had me plug the ac in and power on the laptop and the noise was gone. thats wierd to me ok so we kept testing further and i put everything back together and sure enough the sound was back! tell me thats not wierd
EDIT;i meant to say when i sent my laptop off the battery had no scratches and when i got it back it was scratched to heck and back -
one tip for anyone that sends there computer to the repair depot make sure you inspect the system inside and out thoroughly because when i went to re-paste my cpu there was np paste at all on the cpu and heat sink and also the thermal pads weren't the right sizes for the PCBs so they weren't even being cooled and FURTHER inspection taking the motherboard out there was E-clips wedged between the motherboard and the plastic shielding touching some leads
-
Yup sounds like my experience.
dells texas repair depot?
