yes, I have this problem too. laptop im running it on is in my sig.

Ive tried all sorts of drivers, and am up to date with all the CAPs so far. frame rate is erratic at best. There is rapid flickering of what looks like a previous frame, left in the frame buffer, @ 60hz (vsync on)

the second race has a corrupt flickering road. If i alt-tab out of the game, then back in, the flickering has disappeared, but gradually (over the period of about 15 seconds) comes back again. it looks strange. You know in movies when you see the film reel stop running, and the film burns up in front of the light? it looks like that, and starts as a bright white spec, and kind of expands.

extremely frustrating. I'll never be messing about with crossfire EVER again. worst decision i ever made. Nearly every new game I get, has some sort of stupid graphics issue, or performance issue.

    I have the problem too.

Using 11.6 mobility drivers with 11.6 Cap 1. I've had the problem since 11.4 I think. Can't find a way to solve it.

It might sounds stupid to suggest this, but when I just got my R2 it had new ATI drivers, tried to play FF14 online and it kept crashing, so I kept looking for solutions, I updated to the latest one from AMD ATI but it still crashed. Then I went to dell site, got my service tag in and downloaded OLDER ATI drivers, mine are from version 2010.0810.2122.36491, I Installed them after removing the new drivers and rebooting the beast, FF14 worked smooth like butter, on windowed mode it uses one card but on full screen it uses both in X-F mode. I was running GPUZ in the background and the secondary card was taking a walk in the park while the primary done all the work on med settings lol

I'm afraid if I update my GPU drivers FF14 will not work and keep crashing....then I will have to go through all that work again.

I say try different older drivers if the new ones aren't getting you what you need.

Assuming every person in the world with the game and same setup is on NBR.

Have you tried messing with settings in ccc?

Isn't the flickering associated with CrossFire? Hate saying it, but I would just disable CrossFire in the CCC and see if it fixes your issue. I was running Shift 2 on one card until 11.6 with CAP 1 fixed the issue.

hello mate, yeah just to confirm i have a 4870 in crossfire and have the same problem.if you disable catalyst ai in ccc the problem goes away but halves your frame rate. we're just gonna have to wait for a profile update to solve it im affraid. Shame because it runs so well other than when it rains.
(im running 11.6 cap 1 btw)

Ouch 2FPS! I guess I will wait a little then update my drivers to the latest ones, hopefully I can still run FF14 and Dirt 3 when I get it.

I still havent found a fix for this. I'm thinking it is specifically an "Alienware m17xR2-with-the-4870x2" problem. every time i google the issue, this thread is in the top three. This tells me that probably 90% of the world playing this game, don't have this problem. Its frustrating. it only happens to me on one track, when it rains. but its fairly annoying. The menu's flicker too, when there should be a smooth fade. Instead of a smooth fade, you get a 60hz flicker alternating between the new image, and an old static image that looks like its a ghost in the frame buffer or something. I guess i just have to accept te fact that this game will probably never run correctly on an m17xr24870x2. disappointing though.

i just downloaded it and it run flawlessly maxed out with 6970's. didn't had the chance to test it with 5870's but i've read somewere that it was running also maxed out with those cards. If i'm not mistaken the game use dx11. In a xml config file somewere there should be a way to force it dx9 mode. I stumbled upond this option while fixing an issue i had with the fullscreen mode, you may have a further look for it.

If I had Dirt 3 I'd give it a go...but it could very well be specific to the 4870 mobility in a crossfire configuration. I have a similar problem with Civilization 5 where it crashes with crossfire enabled, but only with 4870s in apparently Alienware m17x-r2. I tried working with Firaxis and AMD to try to get to the bottom of it but they weren't helpful at all. The point is, that it may very well be specific to our setup, and unfortunately if it doesn't affect folks across multiple systems with similar setups then getting the developers / support folks to dig deeper can be a challenge.

Good luck though, I hope they are able to resolve it in a newer driver/cap release.

its definitely a 4870x2 problem. I still haven't managed to solve this. Only way of working around it for me, is to disable CatAI....but performance drops a heap doing this (obviously....because CatAI is required for crossfire to function correctly)
game is playable, and runs reasonably well at max settings, but not silky smooth like having two vidcards doing the work.
