recently the fan on the left gpu decided to make a whinning noise. i couldnt figure out what was causing, so i decided to buy a new one from ebay. it would take a while till i get the new fan. is it possible to disable the gpu on the left side of the laptop and just continue to use the right one and still maintain decent visuals on win7 (when not playing games)?

You can't disable the left hand side GPU, that's the primary card. You can enable the integrated 9400M and use it until the fan arrives but you won't be able to play games on the same setting you used to with the dedicated graphics card.

Yes, but you have to install it for the 9400M too.

Not sure if the 306.97 will work with the iGPU, in case it doesn't you can download Dell's driver here.
