hi again does the rgb screen and or the thing at top with power button and wifi and so on have a driver or firmware as well.

and do you need to reinstall windows when changing either keypad monitor or the power module thing with all the lights on it....

    thanks for any help :)

No, you don't need a driver for any of it man. What problems are you experiencing?

well so called tec guy turned up on wednseday to to change keypad monitor and that power thing at the top with the lights on..... now i can only boot into safe mode.

    1 sometimes it wont post
2 when booting into windows when it can it either bsod or just freezes
3 ive had both cards out and the power thing and keypad not seeing much
4 this has only happend since hes done the work
5 when i do system restore it sometimes boots and everything then just crashes. i think its the power button thing but im not sure.

so didnt know if their were firmware or stuff for the 3 items he changed
i have latest bios but not latest video bios.

i can see him coming out but it froze on him when i was at work and i had to talk him through system restore and safe mode so im not holding my breath for when he comes, so i was hoping if i can find the faulty bit myself then ill get em to post it or be here when he does the work.

    thanks for any help :)

When it won't post, are there any lights blinking on the LEFT side of the hinge cover? The hinge cover is the panel with the Alien head power button on it. You've got to be careful when seating the LCD connectors, both of the keyboard connectors, and the hinge cover connector. When you're flipping the hinge cover over to put it back in place, sometimes you can pull the ribbon out of the connector. The Tech guys have to be a 'Jack of all trades' unfortunately. They are knowledgeable in many things, but not experts in any of them. The GPUs can only go in one way, and the securing screws won't go in if the GPU is installed incorrectly. The CrossFire connector is another story. If you look closely, there are tiny arrows that must line up on both connectors. The only real advice I can offer is to go back through it and make sure each connection is perfect. Take your time.

I'm a bit confused. Are you having mechanical problems or driver problems? My other post was about possible mechanical issues, such as connectors not being properly seated.

what i was getting bud very first was i tried to play a game and it crashed,
    then it would not boot
then it would boot but the power adapter would not charge
then it would boot into safe mode only
then it would only boot when one of the gpus were disabled

so i did rocovery and same thing
ive had both cards out and keypad and the power thingy about 100 times
    i gave up :(
then i thought ill try to unistall alienware stuff and ati drivers
ive not reinstalled command centre or osd yet are thees linked to the power bar thing on the top.

    :)

Have you flashed the new VBIOS to your cards, and are you using the latest 10.11 driver?

You need to check the cables and update to the new VBIOS if you haven't done so already.

That VBIOS fixed the endless BSOD loop if you dropped to battery, and also let you enter sleep mode without your laptop freezing. Have you updated to the 10.11 driver? In Catalyst, make sure all of your sliders under '3D' are to the far left accept for 'Cat AI' and 'Mip maps'. Make sure you're on 'High Performance' power plan in Windows. If you have GPU-Z installed, do you show CrossFireX enabled there at the bottom? Stop any unnecessary processes. I've heard of BFBC2 not running that great anyway. Mine always crashed to the desktop for no apparent reason, which was a common problem. I also had a very hard time getting the game to use both of my GPUs. You can tell if both GPUs are being used in BFBC2 by seeing if they both get hot. If one stays at idle and one gets hot, you're not using them both. Can you post a screenshot of the results of a Vantage run on default settings?

I had the same crash to desktop problems with Dell's driver too in BFBC2. It got so annoying (could play 30 mins one time and another would be hours) that I switched to the 10.11's. Now the crash to desktop is gone! But I get a single blank screen flicker once and a while, no idea what causes it but I've learned to live with it, better than the crashing to desktop. It probably happens once every couple hours of play if I had to guess.

Realize that I have a different CPU than you, but I have to say from my experience over the last month BFBC2 scales perfectly with crossfire. I get double the FPS with it turned on and runs it nicely maxed out (except I do not use AA at all). When someone askes what crossfire is and why it's important, I show that game to them, that's how good it is.
