    hey everyone,

my laptop (m17x r3) came with a damaged gpu around the 25th of July. Since then they did 2 gpu changes with both failures. then, they tried to upgrade the card to a 580m from a 460m. it diid great for 2 days. then, the laptop died randomly. it wouldnt even turn on. then they told me to send it to the repair depot. it was sent to repair depot 3.5 weeks ago. since then, i dont even have a laptop on me. now every time i call, they say they are waiting on the repair depot and they can't send me a new replacement unit. Nothing is happening!!! they don't do anything!!!

alienware is being so hesitant with their replies.

i paid over 2200 dollars for a laptop that doesnt even work from day 1. and they keep saying i can get a refund, but I have waited too long with them for a money back and good bye.

what should i do? can i take this issue to some agency that can support me?

hopefully someone can help me with some advice or personal opinions.

    thank you
    sincerely,
    bluejamesbond

PS: I have been on the phone with them atleast 20 hours...I can buy another laptop with that money if i had spent working instead of being on the phone (not to be cocky about the salary).

Also, i dont mean to be just angry  on the forum, but want to know what i should do in this case. :(

Call up and keep demanding your money back until someone actually says yes. Eventually someone will. Say something like, "This is the worst customer service experience I have ever had in my entire life and I have not felt so poorly treated by another company's product as I do in this case."

Then get your money back. Then...I dont know...go look for a different lappy and hopefully you'll have better luck.

lol...the problem is that the point of money back has long gone. now i think it would only be fair if they upgrade the laptop and provide at the same price.

I think you've invested too much time to call it quits -- demand a brand new laptop and cite what apple would do in this situation. (which they would just send you a new one) -- it happened to me.

That's Crazy!! Sorry to hear about your issues. You got a lemon, plain and simple.

I would demand a new laptop or a working replacement in good condition... talk to a manager because the first line reps have no power to authorize anything.

i would wait to hear back from them this one final time. If it still doesn't meet with/to your expectations, then i would definitely file a case with the BBB. i've read that dell can be more accommodating once you've done that or threaten to do that

All you want is a working computer in good condition. I say good condition because sometimes, the replacements that people get are in horrible condition. Still, i would feel ripped off and angry. You paid for something and you expect it to work

I think i am going to that route and complain a case with BBB because this has gone way to far.

PS. the depot status page shows that it should be delivered 2 weeks ago! and it was on an engineering hold and they just started working on it a day before expected date of delivery. Now it is 12 days after that and i dont have any information on a 2200 dollar laptop.

The BBB is worthless and this is coming from someone who's allegedly had a complaint filed against them. They're a good threat for the uneducated. Best bet is to find Michael Dell's e-mail address (via google or other info in these forums) as there's a team watching that address. IMO try to e-mail any reps you can since you'll now have a paper trail as it were. After a few and by a few I mean three or so if you don't have some kind of info on your computer forward all of it to Mr. Dell's e-mail address.

    seriously????

so BBB is no good? what about FTC? or what else can i do?
emailing michael dell seems outrageous personally, he should be getting tons of emails everyday.

well, the processor is a $150 upgrade, and the video card is more than $500 since a 560 to 580 is $500 and a 560 is better than a 460.

So call it a ~$700 upgrade
