    driver update fail

    i let windows update my video card. when windows is at the log in screen it goes black. i can see my cursor and can't do anything. i had to turn off hybrid gfx in the bios to be able to use my alienware m17x (i think r1). please help me fix this.

    Restart your system.
    After the Alien head repeatedly press F8 and choose Safe Mode with networking from the list.
    Uninstall the current video drivers.
    download CCleaner and clean your registry for any leftovers of the drivers.
    Reboot and install eighter a Dell version of the drivers or a stable version DON'T let Windows update your video drivers.

    I suppose you have the ATi cards.

    i have nvidia 280m. does that make a difference?
