    ethernet port light is always green

    Hi:

    this m17x-r2 always boot up with ethernet port lights on(green light) no matter I have a cat 5 cable plug in or not.

    should this ethernet port be lit when cat 5 cable plug in?
    once cat 5 cable unplug, the green light will be turned off?

    My wifi connection is working.yetion, wire connection failed all the time.
    I got no ip address from wired connection, it detected the cable(media) present,
    yet give me 169.x.x.x not the 192.168.X.X ip address.

    I suspected this ethernet port is broken, can you verify that your ethernet port green light is always on?

    try to tape ip adress manually.
    perhaps light means WiFi? try to switch it off

    Maybe the pins in the port got bent and are touching?

    I've done fixed ip address for ethernet port.
    it wont do the trick though.
    can you confirm that your m17x green light off while no cat 5 cable plug in?
    or is is always light on your ethernet port?
