Its way better then the 560m.

If you need the GPU power go get it. FHD is also a must.

i completely agree..never buy direct from the website. Talk to a rep or a reseller because you will get a discount. The reseller i dealt with has a 20% margin on alienware...The longer we talked, the larger the discount became lol...he ended up giving me a 12% discount..which was the max he could do (3% for credit card which left him with a 5% profit which i think is fair). So the discount covered the cost of the upgrade to 6990m

it is well worth the upgrade. 6990m is significantly better than 560m. The 460m overclocked to 560m in my Asus g73 was not enough card to play games "...the way they were meant to be played"

    If you're a proper gamer, you'll regret the 560m.

I would go all the way to sacrifice the 1080p for a 6990m.

We have both the 460m and 6990m in two systems. The 6990 is twice as fast as the 460m generally. That said, besides four games like crysis, metro, SC2 etc..., the 460 plays everthing well.

560m now but 460m at launch. Basically a small overclock difference...

Personally, I'd wait 3months for the 7000 series as it's expected to double the 6900 performance.

And never sacrifice the FHD screen, the 1600x900 resolution sucks. You will regret it later.

question: does any one know how much it cost to buy the 6990m from dell AFTER you already bought the laptop. I'm getting my R1 replaced, not sure with what yet, and the rep said if i do upgrade decide to upgrade the video card at that time that it wont be for the price under the build area. (aka 300 for 6990m). so how much will it cost?

Dell isn't currently selling 6990m's unless you have a m18x. And they will verify that you have one

you can order them with a new laptop or buy them if they are already in a refurbished unit. However, if you call up and try to buy the card on its own, they won't sell it to you. I suggest you call up and find out for yourself
