    ok guys im thinking about getting the r3 but as iv read through the forums bit confused about a few things ill leave few questions

    1. is there really any major difference in the 6870m vs the 6970m
    and
    2. does the 6870m have switchable graphics without having to do a reboot

    1. Yes. The 6870m is a slightly downclocked version of the 5870m (don't ask me why, I'm just as confused about AMD's naming scheme), so you can expect the 6970m to perform ~40% better overall than the 6870m.

    Here's the 6970m benchmarks. Just look for the 5870m in the comparison charts, and that's where the 6870m should rank also:
