Just got off the phone with my case manager, and after a full system replacement 3 times in 7 months. He logged into my comp manually today and saw the latency, and has put my case forth for a r2 replacement! he said 90% sure when they phone me on 19th, the replacement sales team will talk to me and replace my machine.
So ill expect a £3900 equivlant which i paid on the r1!

Also the plot thickens! after reading some posts, about dual 5870's i decided to phone sales and bascially say ill buy if it has this option for CF 5870, the guy said CF 5870 are available at £345 - same price as the 4870! he said this is because he thinks this will replace the 4780 online. Sooo even tho its not online, phone and order it and say u want the 5870! i just hope the replacement team will let me do this =)

also how much differece is the CF 4870 to CF 5870?

    im soo happy=)

Congrats btw. And to answer your question, I think the current status or belief is that it's about a mile, perhaps more?? ahead of the CF 4870s. No one can be sure yet cause CF 5870s aren't out but so far a single 5870 has exploded expectations...

    4870<5870<4870XF<5870XF

We will never know how big the gap is between 4870 crossfireX and 5870 crossfireX until they release it in the m17x but we expect 15-20% increase.

the 5870 is basically an overclocked 4870 with directx11 (which in itself doesn't give an performance advantage over 10.1 however). We get another 150mhz on core/shader speed, but memory bandwidth is less, even though the GDDR5 runs @ 1ghz vs 888mhz, it's half the width (128bitvs256bit)

it should be roughly 15-25% faster.

adrian, the stutter thread is actually in the "gathering data" stage. Basically, if you're able to run some tests and post the results, it could go a long way towards others in your boat getting theirs replaced or at least Dell understanding the issue...
