Hi I got mx17 r4 with 7970m and I'm having flickering screen issue playing diablo 3 on stock clock, 850 and 1200 mHz. I reinstalled OS, clean install/switched from default driver, 12.6, 12.7 beta and the latest driver from dell but I'm still having the same problem. I was able to partially fix it by downclocking the video card to 720/1200. I'm aware that this might be diablo but I need to know if anyone got similar issue like mine. Any suggestions will be great.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I got my R4 last week and have been running Diablo 3 with the official Dell drivers on highest quality with no issues.

Tried everything that you mentioned. Restored my laptop to factory settings and installed the latest video driver from dell, quickly installed and tried diablo 3 ---- NO LUCK. Clean install and reverted back to old driver, still the same. Barely two weeks since I got laptop from Alienware. Running out of ideas to fix this problem. :(

could be something else, first game i played on my r4 is the D3, running on all stock drivers and everything ran smoothly, except the occasional stuttering, which is D3's problem.

when you said you restored to factory settings, did you afterwards uninstall the drivers first before installing the latest driver?
imo you don't need to restore to factory if you just trying to install drivers.

have you tried running other games and see if the flickering persists? we all know D3 is problematic.

I changed drivers few times, using the clean install method , I switched from factory driver to 12.6, 12.7 beta as well as the latest from dell etc. to see if the stuttering will go away, but no luck. Luckily, it was running fine on Ghost Recon with no issues at all. I'm certain it's Diablo 3 but how come some Mx17 R4 owners didn't have any issue. I downclocked to 720/1200 and stuttering goes away.

try fiddling with the graphic settings in D3 and see if any options caused the flickering.
