I'm just trying to flash to the unlocked BIOS, but it spits out this redundant error, even when the file is right there, next to all the other files, in the C:/ folder.

What BIOS are you currently on?

A14 I flashed back from A15 -
That flash was successful?
I ask only because others that had tried back flashing were having trouble, Ill ping the others that have more first hand knowledge of this process and hopefully they might have seen this scenario.
@Striker1234 @MahmoudDewy @Ashtrix and maybe @woodzstack might have seen something
And of course @javers who also contributed quite a bit to our machine. -

It seems to be, the laptop is working fine and has been for about a month, Ill try reflashing A14 and the A14+

It might help speed things along if you're comfortable providing a screen shot of your root directly, just so they can have a baseline to work off of
Also check out the emergency backflash procedure in case things go awry -

Wdym root? Assuming you meant C:/ Folder contents?

Bios downgrading never causes problems on the Ranger. -
There was one individual in my thread who had issues but thanks to a misclick I was banned and that thread deleted.

for the most part it's easy as following instructions and getting the files, they can be found around, if not on TechInferno from some great guys over there who helped out with all the know how to begin with.
But I thought you had to go back to A05 or something when downgrading from the latest bioses on like the AW17 (I'm assuming thats the laptop)...
course been ages since I had to touch my laptop. I actually just use the regular bios myself, not sure anymore what the unlocked ones add really. I got everything I need.Mastermind5200 likes this. -

I didn't even know it had a A05. But yeah, this is the AW 17 mid-2014 model. Being honest, Ive tried everything to flash it, same error. Its not thag a big a deal imo -

The option to set the graphics mode, ex SG -
Also if you have the 4930mx you disable c states and energy efficient p states to hold higher overclocks.

I have just the 4700MQ, stuff like that wont matter to me for a long while -
IF you stay on the Ranger it will happen eventually.

Eventually yes, I plan to give it to my brother and help him upgrade once I buy a P870xxx. The first upgrade Im looking at is a 980m -

No problem going from A15 to A14 by using the original Flash, then you can go to A14+ -

how? -

With the original firmware download it from Dell, and install it as normal.
Let me know if you have any problem. -
