freezing Hard disk drive?

hi. i have been having some problems lately about my HDD randomly freezing, so i downloaded a program called HDDLED indicator. the programs is suppose to show me the activity of my

hard disk (e.g. read/write speed). i have noticed that the read speed of my hard disk goes as high as 9 megabytes when opening mozilla firefox and randomly the read/write just stop

altogether for a few seconds to 5 minutes. i regularly defrag my hard disk every week using disk defragmenter included in windows and i run Ccleaner every few days.

can anyone tell me what's going on? I'm also using a M17x R1

Backup your disk drive(s). Then go to Start>Computer and right click on c: drive; select Properties, click on the Tools tab and in the Error Checking panel, click on the Check now button. Sounds like your HDD is failing.

So you open Firefox, and it access the drive, then when Firefox is open, the drive accesses stop. What's wrong here?

HD Tune Pro will has a health tab you can look at, as well as error scanning.
