my m17x does not recognize my geforce gtx 460m, when i try to play crysis 2 it says that my video card doesnt support it which it should easily, i have found systemrequiremtslab.com and every game it tells me i have a 460m but apperintly its not good enough to run anything, i went to nvidia and downloaded the driver when i went to install it it said i dont have the hardware for the driver, can someone help me out with this please cause ima need to be playing BF3 real soon thanks

A couple things to check...install from the full downloaded package and not from the install manager. Also, make sure you downloaded the mobile driver and not the desktop driver

    Here:
    NVIDIA DRIVERS 280.26 WHQL

Did you try the ones from Dell's support website instead? I only ask because sometimes with these oem systems the drivers are signed/ designed to work with the specific hardware on a given system. I've used both in past (PC manufacture vs. part manufacture) with mixed result. YMMV, but sometimes one works better than the other.

Another thing is that they recently release a vbios (video bios) update Like 2 weeks ago recently) on Dell's website. Maybe?

problem with the drivers is the same problem the rest of us with the 460m have :( , the 460m optimas version of the m17x r3 isn't supported by any of the new nividia drivers (officially). What you can do is download the drivers and use a modded inf like the one found one this site. Just download the modded inf file and replace the one in the driver folder. im the latest drivers with no problems :D
