oh no, not another one right?... basically, looking to have a second opinion on whether or not to upgrade to a 256 ssd.. or buy another 760gb and run raid.. either one 256gb ssd or 2 750gb raid?.. playing warhammer 40k atm... as far as gaming, i know there might not be that much of a performance gain but loading times should improve.. anybody here running ssd's? how fast is the boot up time? any other advantages / disadvantages you considered when you made the switch.. thanks for your input.. oh btw, the ssd is a samsung 830 series, 256 gb, $375.. against a $110, 750 gb, 7200rpm hd..

An SSD will be monumentally faster compared to an HD. If you don't need 1.5TB of space, i'd definitely recommend the SSD HD combo and you'd still have 1TB. Load times and boot times will greatly improve with an SSD.

plug the ssd on the empty drive and set it as your pimary boot drive, format the existing hdd to wipe windows and unneccesary data (after moving everything you need to your primary of course.

won't really matter if it's a or b (unless they have different sata speeds), it would matter which is the primary and secondary in your BIOS.
It depends on what kind of data you're moving, save games, movies, actual physical files or saved files from apps/games which could be everywhere
an easier method for a catch all migration is using a tool called acronis to migrate between harddrives, not the "cleanest" method but it works. -
well, went ahead and got the samsung 830 256gb... main problem was cloning it with norton ghost 15.. took me almost 11 hrs. trying to figure out what the problem was why i would get the message " windows not genuine" after boot up.. had to redue the cloning a couple of times, thought that was the problem.. finally found a solution after almost giving up at 3am.. had to rename the the drive on the clone from "I" to "c"... after that everything went well.. damn, this thing is quick..
hd or ssd?
