I read on tom's-hardware that ivy bridge will work with our machines. All we are gonna need is a bios update which i believe dell will be reluctant to do. :(

Outrageous price is to be expected i guess, nonetheless its good to see some QS Ivy on the market. Hopefully In a half a year I can nab one of these QS 3920xm for about $500-600 as an upgrade from a 3720qm (With a laptop that supports OC) :)

Seriously @graz you are way too hopeful. The chances are this chip will not work in the M17x R3. And even if it does, there is no indication that it will perform any better than a 2920XM.

this chip will physically fit in your laptop, but requires the H77 chipset...unfortunately, we have H67 in the R3. So don't wait

This has always been the problem with ebay. If you see something, just go for it while it is there... :)

Does the 2960XM ES exist? The OEM has been around for a while but never stumbled upon the ES on eBay.

The so-called 2920XM ES from Shirley is just a generic mobile sandy bridge quad with unlocked multipliers and a wierd stock clock... it probably got the name because of the unlocked specs - however it's not a 2920XM ES tbh.
