I ran HWiNFO64 in the background as I played Company of Heroes and Core #3 (fourth core) apparently reached 6.91 GHz. The others maxed at 2.79 GHz. As I understood it the 720QM had turbo boost only to 2.8 GHz.

I'm going to assume it's a HWiNFO64 inaccuracy and not that I lucked out and got a super-CPU. Right?

Yeah, when I got my replacement CPU upgrade from Alienware in my M17x r3 it says it's a core i7 extreme even though it's not. :)

I have actually wondered why this was happening, I was going to post about it on here eventually about it.

where does it say that? with CPUz? I remember a discussion about it a few months ago that it had to do with a bug, but I can't remember specifics. :(

It says it in HWinfo only, nothing else does it.
