i7 740QM worth the extra $300

Up from the i5? I mean what kind of difference is this actually going to make just playing a game like WoW and daily computing?

Yes but I am considering getting one even cheaper through EPP AAA. Cash is tight and if it overs no real world benefit id rather save even more money.

 

Why don't you consider the 720qm? It's slightly slower than the 740qm, but you save $100 or so.

 

Because of the deal they are running right now with the free CrossfireX 5870 I am having a hard time getting a better deal through EPP since Dell home has offered the 740QM for $2199 so I guess I will go this route.

 

I don't remember too well, but sillyhoney from this forum got his m17x /w 720qm, 5870 cf, rgbled, 4gb ddr3, 250gb hd, intel 6300 for ~$2200 or so.

its a price screwup dell made but you can call them up and have them honor it.


Alienware Landing


they are advertising m17x with video card upgrade which is legit but also showing the m17x with i7 740qm but it comes with a i5 by default but due to the advertising showing featured specs you can have them honor it and maybe go lower if you negotiate more.

 

I tried to push it even lower but after several attempts they would not budge any lower I had to call several times just to get them to honor the false advertising. As it is this is at least 20% so I can't complain!

 

Yes I did he was in India I think as most are but he spoke the best English and was more helpful then the other 20 I have talked to in the past very nice straight up dude that didn't try to push extra junk on me (Warranty, Accessories etc...)

 

$2849 system for $2199 is closer to 25% someone do the math for me I am bad with it

gone through several reps and no go on the 740 so far I'm ready to order dangit!

 

The fact that it's remained on the website as a "deal" for this long leads me to believe that it really isn't a "mistake." For those looking to buy a machine with this deal, just keep trying until you get a Rep that honors the "mistake." It's been said before I know, but the worst they'll ever say is "no." Hang up and try again. You'll get it soon enough.
