    Hi all
Im going to put in the above in my M17X R2 and will change the cheapo Dell thermal pads near the processor at the same time but what thickness pads do i need ... is it 1mm or will 0.5mm be suitable ?
I have both sets of pads but which one will give the best cooling results ?

    Thanks

I'd use 1mm for that portion, as the gap there is a bit bigger then the other places on the system that use thermal pads, such as the GPUs. You may even be good with a 1mm and a .5mm on top of it. It's a good sized gap.

So its 1mm to 1.5mm for the cpu pads ?
I repasted and repadded my gpu's with 1mm pads but thinking of redoing the 5870's with 0.5mm pads .
I only had 1mm pads at the time but squashed them slightly with a rolling pin :D .
I now have 0.5mm pads so will redo them .
    Thanks
