Hey there, just ordered bigfoot killer 1103 from ebay for my m17x R3. And here's the question → where to plug 3rd antenna cable? Does anyone has a picture on which cable goes for which hole? I want it replace from default intel centrino n1000.

If you want to stick with the standard, from left to right as you look at the card with the plugs on top, you should plug:
    1: white
    2: gray
    3: black

The 3rd antenna is really easy to find (it's basically right there with all the others). I installed this card fairly easily (for a guy that doesn't normally disassemble laptops).

The information that tells you which color is which number is a life safer (as posted by katalin_2003 in here)

But there is a great youtube video that helps ya take apart your laptop. I followed it to get access to the area undernearth my keyboard where the wireless card is.

Here are 2 resources that were thankfully provided to me when I installed mine
    Documentation
Youtube video on disassembling your Laptop

Main 2 things that I found I took extra care with is removing the ribbon cables from keyboard and removing the black plastic piece that goes all around your keyboard (you have to lift this up during this installation). Watch video and refer to documentation as much as needed as you open up your system. Be relaxed and take your time :)

dunno, here it works fine on the setup i mentioned.
but it's just a pair of cables with no logic in them, im not supprised if it even matters how you connect them.

Seems like indeed - it doesn't matters lol. When i got my killer wireless 1103 it was white, black, gray. But now i have white, gray, black.... Why there's a different cables if it doesn't matters how its plugged lol.

did some research and doesnt matter where what cable goes, it's just 150 mbit per antenna, giving the killer 1103 the 450 mbit troughput.

The cable arrangement doesn't have any impact on performance since the antennas are facing the same direction in the M17x. However, the configuration i posted above is the standard (you'll memorize it easier in case one day you'll be limited by cable length, antenna position etc.)

Does the Killer 1103 works in the R2? I think the R2 only has 2 antennas right?

Or I should look at the 1102 with the 2 antennas?

The M17x R2 can have three antennas, It depends on what display model it has.

You can just take off the palmrest to see how many wires you have.
To get there, you have to:
    • unplug the power cord and remove the system battery
    • take out the three screws under the battery
    • slide the palmrest towards you and lift
    • now you should see the wires.

If you have only two, you can add a third antenna yourself like this:
    3rd antenna M17x.jpg

or if you don't use Bluetooth, use its blue wire.

Yes, if in the future you'll take off the monitor's lid, you'll see the bluetooth antenna on one side of the monitor next to the wifi antennas.

Opened up the palm rest of the R2 and behold:

    photo.JPG

There are three antennas. One is tucked to the side for safe keeping.

Time to get the 1103 then :D
