Reason im asking is I know you can upgrade that by yourself later on down the line, so I was going to just get the 4gb stock, and upgrade later if needed. Will this hamper my performance if I dont get the 6?

You'll lose a lot of memory bandwidth. Will this affect performance on a measurable way? yes, to some degree. However it's not something I would take into consideration. 6GB is going to give you at least 1 4GB module, which makes moving to 8GB later on cheaper. Unless you like benchmarking all the time (which is a no-no on a laptop anyway) there's no reason to go for 4GB vs 6Gb because of the increased bandwidth performance. 6GB will seem like a faster system 95% of the time.

    Short answer : NO
Long answer: You dont need that much unless its something really RAM dependant.

2 Slots, So i was planning on getting the 6 off the start but I wanted to save a bit of cash, and it does make sense to get the 6 gb of ram, 1333 i was going for. Another question semi related, I cant find on new egg anyways a laptop blu ray drive, are their after market blu ray drives for laptops? If soo would it be cheaper to buy 1 seperate and install it myself?

yea, the blu-ray drives for the m17x's are on ebay for around 60-80$ each. u have to dismantle the top of the laptop to install them since they are a slot load drive but there's an instructional video on youtube.

in many other countries, 6g is standard now. 4g is enough, yes. Free for 6g, why not.

Just trying to save the most money I can :), Im trying for my set up getting between 2300 to 2500 canadian, which roughly for the same model made on the american site 300 dollars more to give people perspective. Right now when I price it on the site , it sites around 3200 3100. I really hope I can get it for 2500 2600 at the most.
