    hi.
    ive ordered a $4000 (australian) M17x so i wont be getting a new laptop for a while, so im just wondering what parts if any can i upgrade when the current parts start to not be top of the range.

    Kinda hard to understand lol but hey... I work with tons of Aussies! They are awesome! :D lol

    Anyways, that I know of, you can upgrade the RAM, GPU and the CPU.

    Your options are limited to what dell releases bios for. The 485m works, but no 3d. The 6970m is a great option also.

    Yeah GPUs, though upgradeable and the selection is pretty good, are not "easy" to do if Dell does not support it via the BIOS.

    And, for what it's worth, the WiFi card can be replaced too. I believe someone in another thread had stated that all three antennas are present in the lid no matter which WiFi option the unit is shipped with. Hopefully, I'm repeating valid information!

    Yup I replaced my WiFi card no issues and all 3 antennas were there.
