I tried to do a replacement of GTX280M SLI

I take out the 280Ms and install it on the MXM1,but I can only see the black screen

    maybe it need BIOS hack

    anyone install a single GTX570M/Quadro 4000M on a M17X R1 ?

    (Quadro 4000M ) HP version
    (GTX570M) MSI version

Maybe you got for a really low price because it doesn't work. ;) Seriously, try it by itself without the 570 in there first. I also have my doubts you can SLI a GeForce and a Quadro together because they have different DeviceIDs and driver sets.

Ouch. You're problem is the fact that it's an HP card.

HP (and other companies) while they use the MXM interface for their laptops, don't comply to the standards.

The crazy thing they do to ensure the propriety of their hardware is to have the eprom chip with the vbios, not located on the MXM card but on the motherboard itself.

Your card doesn't have a vbios. Your card is incapable of having a vbios because it is missing the chip which houses the vbios.

(Look right under the gpu die, to the right of the traces for the missing SLI connector. You will see the 8 horizontal traces. That is where the vbios chip should be.)

You can't use that card in any laptop other than the HP laptop is was made for.

I can make sure the Q4000M does work on HP M6600
I pulled the card from the M6600

because the M17X is too heavy, and I'm on a bussiness trip at that time
so I didn't take the AW to kunshan

    I have a Q4000M in hand and I didn't buy 570M yet

next,,,I will return this card,,,,and try MSI GTX570M

The 560M has been tested a couple of times, it works but doesn't output on the built in screen, only external.
