    Hi guys,

I'm asking for your opinion about adding second HD5870 card so going to crossfire setup for my M17x-R2.
A lot of you are using this for long so you exactly know if it was good move.

Is it worth ~280euro for few (hopefully more) FPS upgrade in games?

as I know this is the only official way to upg m17x-R2 - I saw few benchmarks but really I want to know if this is still painfull these days (problems with CF) or the latest drivers and vbios are stable and working fine?

    any thoughts lads?

    cheers,

Worth 280 euro = yes as that is cheaper than the cost of configurating it in a new system here in europe.

When I was configuraring my Xfire, it cost 4200 swedish kr extra (about 450 euro).
    9.2 S KR= 1 euro €
    6.2 S KR= 1 us $

It gives a really nice boost in games that can use Xfire. My Xfire works great so far.

If you need it for some reason perhaps think about it, but if you just want it for the heck of it I would avoid it.

Dual card systems have a lot more problems than single card systems and the ROI (return on investment) is not nearly as high in both means of money spent and in performance gains.

I believe the performance increase is much better than you think, somewhere in the area of 40-50% better when you add a second 5870m. I think it would definitely be worth it. Compare for yourself here http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
