Never owned a powerful laptop and i was wondering if this would be a suitable replacement for a desktop? Im just afraid it will over heat if i use it for like 5 hours some straight. Also if i wanted to could i plug this into my 47 inch television for display there if i wanted?

you can even add your xbox/ps3 to the m17 via hdmi in

Mine replaced two quad-core self-built desktops. One has a HD5850 and the other xfire HD6870. I gave one to each of my sons. I never miss them. Ever. The R3 is awesome.

I use mine for work, play, dvd encoding, the works. Never overheats. Good web surfer unplugged when switched to integrated graphics. Long battery life, almost 5 hours. Full sized keyboard.

    1. Pick the exact config you want so you don't regret later
    2. Buy extra warranty at time of purchase (3+ years piece of mind is killer)
    3. Keep it clean and buy a proper bag to carry it in

Nope. Just sits on my desk. I would only do intensive stuff, like gaming, when the unit is sitting on a hard flat surface.

Get a good bag. Understand that you are sacrificing weight vs power. It is not lightweight and took me a few times packing & unpacking it to get accustomed to its weight and size, but now it is not an issue.

9.4lbs its about 2lbs less than R2. Actually I will be carrying less as I had enough stuff in my bag with the Lenovo to add up to 20+ lbs.
