So i have a hard time understanding driver versions with the ATI packages so this is what i show>
Driver Packaging Version 8.68.2-091125a1-092358C-Dell
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 8.01.01.984
2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0001
Direct3D Version 8.14.10.0716
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.9210
Catalyst™ Control Center Version 2009.1125.2309.41491
the 10.8 off ATI's website wont install over because it says this is the latest version. Its that true?
-
open CCC
if you are in basic mode you click the information center tab
check Catalyst Version
if you are in advanced mode
click the graphics menu on the top left
click information center
check catalyst version
mine says 10.8 -
this is what it says:
Driver Packaging Version 8.68.2-091125a1-092358C-Dell
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 8.01.01.984
2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0001
Direct3D Version 8.14.10.0716
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.9210
Catalystâ„¢ Control Center Version 2009.1125.2309.41491
its exactly what i posted above. not sure how you are getting anything different. -
I installed the dell beta driver. Its suppose to be 10.8 right? Now it shows:
Driver Packaging Version 8.763-100810a-103700E-Dell
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1059
2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0001
Direct3D Version 8.14.10.0775
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.10151
Catalystâ„¢ Control Center Version 2010.0810.2122.36491
so hopefully its up to date. Can anyone confirm?
and how do you add/select/enable profiles for a game? -
Yup thats the latest driver from dell. It is 10.8 ahuhs.
You can dl the CAP profiles from AMDs website. OR.
http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article/2010/08/26/ati_crossfirex_application_profile_108a_performance
and
http://www.userdrivers.com/Video-Gr...rofiles-10-8-for-Windows-XP-Vista-7/download/
Your very 1st post driver version would have been DELLs stock drivers that came with the machine. They would have been like March dated or around then.
Cheers. -
how do i activate or select the profiles? i downloaded and ran the installer however the profiles section of the CCC is either greyed out or blank.
-
After you install the CAP profiles thats it they should be applied and ready to work for your games. No need to set or change anything. They will just work when you start gaming.
Just double check and make sure Crossfire is enabled.
You can choose to set minimaps to which ever setting you like. Also for Catalyst AI set it to Advanced. If you have trouble then set it to standard.
Cheers. -
i just double checked everything and i am unable to see any profile to activate anywhere. the profiles manager is blank and the activate profile icon is grey.
any ideas? is it incompatible with dells latest beta driver? the 10.8 from ATI doesnt seem to want to install so i may remove the dell drivers and do a fresh install of ATI's 10.8 -
ok, thank you for your reply.
-
No worries.
Try out your games see how they go. You can run FRAPs as well to see the frame rates during game play.
Some users will only use 10.8a CAP profiles while others use both and some use only the 10.8 CAP profiles.
If you have serious gaming performance issues then you will just have to play around with which one to install uninstall.
Also if you read the 10.8a article those games that they mention in there are specifically targeted by 10.8a CAP profiles. So they will work really well for those gaming titles.
Cheers.
just received R2
