so i just recently purchased an m17x r2
it came with a stock 1440x900 screen.
after a week i decided to upgrade it to an 1920x1200 screen (LTN170CT08) and i also ordered an Dell HP693 cable to make it work
now after putting everything back together i get a dark screen.
i can hook up an external monitor to check things....but stil no picture.
do i need to reset something in the bios or change some settings there?
or is my new screen just fubar

Seems like the LCD is broken, have you tried re-seating the connections?

    *update*

found out what caused my motherboard being fried.
i used the old screen cable which uses an inverter for the backlight on the cfl panel.
in the haste of putting the new rgb-led screen in, i didnt swap this with the needed hp693 cable.
thus the inverter didnt have a panel connected to it to power the backlight and thus creating a heat problem to the connector on the board.
lesson learned: take time to do things right.

bought an 2nd hand motherboard of ebay. installed it with the new screen and needed cables.
    everything works fine.
screen is an amazing upgrade (drool)
but now i keep getting the ac-adapter is not recognized message.
    tried doing a power drain.
it only popped up once in the bios as a 240 watts adapter.

i think its just the powerjack assembly on the motherboard.
which just might need some touch ups with soldering tin or a new dc-jack assembly.

yes i only have to solder the dc-jack.
and just wait for the crossfire cable.
then ill be ready to unleash the beast :D
