Dont know if you guys still remenber me, but i have been eying for an alienware for so long now(5yrs). Its the bad customer reviews and horror story that stops me from buying. Recently two of my friends bought the new 17 and both of their system had problems from small to large. Been looking up lately on origin pc and had ordered one for my 16 cousin 2 years ago, hes origin is till runing like a champ, and from reviews they are solid. Im thinking about buying one during black friday or holiday during a sale or promotion of some kind. Does anyone know last years origin pc holiday sales promotions were like? whens nvidia nxt gpu coming out? wanted a hdmi in to play console but i guess that dream have to be on hold.

The next GPU from NVIDIA is expected at the end of Q2 2014. It's always going to be sometime in the second quarter of the upcoming year.

Black Friday sales are a great time to buy. You'll probably see up to 15% off.

any news on how much better it will be compared to the gtx780m? btw on origin pc configuration they are offering proffesional overclocking on 780m, is it worth it? how much more performance can they squeeze out safely (5% or 10%)?

No its not worth it and also this forum is in the wrong place. Also, I had several issues with my 17 as well. Took three systems for them to get it right, but I did get compensated. But if you are talking about origin pc's you should not be here asking for configs. This is the alienware forum!

Overlcocking in general? Yes! But paying for it no. Because its so easy to do on the user end. Also This system. I'll put it blunt. I've had the current one for about two weeks. the one before that one week it failed, video card. The one before that one. I had for less then a week and the cpu fan failed and the cpu overheated. But I was compensated with over 600 dollars in coupons and a cpu upgrade as well as a free backpack.

Anywhere from 20% to 30% increase. I mean 10 to 15 fps in real world? ~ Thats enough for me. And risky? As in will it kill your card, no.

"offering proffesional overclocking on 780m" ~ you said this

I did not mean overclocking was not worth it. I meant paying for someone to do it. This professional overclocking is a scam, the user can do this.

If its free, then go for it! And that depends, you can't overlcock it correctly "Usually" with out vbios mods. But if they are going to do all of that for you. LET THEM! I just thought they were charging you for it.

Overheat? ~ Depends on which laptop you purchase. I use a cooling fan for precaution. All these questions are variables, it is best to get a cooling fan but depending on how well the cooling is in the computer or laptop overclcoking will always cause higher heat output.

I use a combination of mdi afterburner and hwinfo, There are many though. Its more of a personal preference of how you want your information presented.

Also just a heads up, if I remember correctly Origin did not have any major discounts on their systems last year on Black Friday etc. From what I have seen they never really discount their systems more then 100$. Usually for their "sales" they just include extra stuff and not give any money off. For example they give a game package or free shipping or free overclocking etc etc stuff like that. I could be wrong but all their ads on Facebook are normally like that. Right now is their four year anniversary and the savings or benefits at the moment are free overclocking of CPU, free shipping and free games. Good luck!

    Thanks for the heads up
I need help, if i want to add a ssd to load os, games faster but configuration option are very confusing. They have mSATA RAID config, mSATA option, mSATA drive, mSATA drive two, hard drive RAID config, sooooooooooooo where do i add that ssd to? Also im contemplating if i should just get a small desktop like chronos, configuration price will be $200 more but performance is alot higher (gtx780 ti). Also can i always add second hard drive or ssd myself later (chronos)?
