I am having this very very low humming voice from power adapter, when the laptop is idling it is irritating :) well actually from the tip of adapter where it plugs into the computer, the second I remove the adampter the noise is gone, any ideas?

I have the same noise coming from the adapter. I think it is a normal sound.

Try putting it in a socket directly in the wall (my sound was really loud before because I used a very old socket that doesn't "earth". I still have the humming sound though)

    I had this problem too

The adapter makes a buzzing, electrical noise, and the noise it makes is exactly the same as the noise that comes out of the laptop/charging socket too.
Every time the picture on the LCD screen changes, the noise temporarily changes pitch (e.g. when scrolling text).

You may also notice it sounds louder/worse when the laptop is plugged in, and the battery is at 100% charge

I called Dell, they replaced it and my new adapter is much quieter, I don't notice it.

So the rule is, if the noise is annoying you, then its too loud and is faulty. Call Dell, tell them about this issue. They replaced my adapter within a few days.

It seems that there is a bad batch of these adaptors if others are getting this issue too.

    EDIT:

Thats the thread where I posted this issue awhile back.

when your replacement comes, you'll get exactly the same noise lol...i think everyone has this to some degree.

I have to put my ear almost right on my powersupply to even hear it. THEN, i had to try and quickly forget about the noise. once your ear is tuned to it and you get sensitive to the pitch, you will be completely screwed as it will haunt you :D

Best it to put your headset on and just forget about the noise...but like Prank said, if it does bother you, get a replacement because maybe yours is faulty

I wish it was the adapter, the darned socket on the cord is making the buzz (so pretty close to my ears :( )

Not sure where you are, but I travel a lot and when ever I an on EU voltage my charger buzzes too. I actually noticed this with most of my universal chargers (previous laptop, cell phone, and toothbrush charger) so maybe its normal.

I'm an EU user and i have noticed no buzzing from my charger at all. Its completely silent!

If i were you, i'd get an replacement ASAP.. It might not harm only your laptop if it sets off an fire, but even you..

Thats the issue I had. After replacing the AC adaptor ALL problems were gone, including that one.

Hopefully the replacement will solve all your problems!

ok, the adapter exchanged, the sound is almost gone, however now I am suspecting it is coming from SSD? what do you think guys, can it be possible? it is certainly coming from the area around SSD and it is almost impossible to hear but when your ear is next to the bay under the keyboard, you can hear something, so weird... any ideas? how can I be sure that it is SSD??

Personally I've noticed the buzzing sound coming from my laptop was due to the gpus pressing on the fan cables.
After seating them better the sound has gone away.
