Hey guys. Had my R1 for almost a year now. The DVD drive will spend an infinite time trying to read a DVD, with almost 50% of DVDs - I have to restart windows and eject it before windows starts when it happens!

I'd rather not have to send the unit back, but I presume I'll have to - is there anything else I can do?

    Thanks,
    Ian

It sounds like the drive is dead, you should probably send it in.

Better get a replacement from Dell if you got any warranty left.

You should be able to call dell/alienware technical help support. If you got warrenty left they will just send you out a new DVD rom drive. A tech guy should be sent to your house to swap it out for you.

    Cheers.
