i'm frustrated so if this sounds a little snobby i don't mean it like that. i really spoiled myself buying this thing. next to my car, it's the only thing i really felt great purchasing. i'm not rich but i like nice things. just a friendly disclaimer. i'm smiling writing this, and just want to make sure it comes across right. (friendly but frustrated). thanks -robert

is there some issue with these computers? my m17xr2 is great and this brand new m17r3 is embarrassing.
i specifically have this one: http://www.microcenter.com/product/461214/Alienware_17_R3_173_Gaming_Laptop_Computer_-_Epic_Silver

-i draw in coreldraw for work and it'll crash and take me to the login screen, usually losing my work.
-i'll be in waterfox and it'll crash and take me to the login screen.
-i have artifacts on the screen a lot. multiple times per day. sometimes black rectangles on text characters which will appear on screenshots like it's a software issue, more recently i get this weird junk in the screen that won't show up in screenshots making me think hardware issue.

i don't have much on it and i didnt do much to it. it lives on my desk and doesn't get carried around. i upgraded to windows professional(i had these issues with the preinstalled windows 10 home as well) and uninstalled most of the bloatware. i'm a little lost. i'm good with computers -hardware, software, windows, linux, etc. but new to windows 10. i'm always pressed for time as i run a business and this time of year i work 12+ hours a day and try to have a life.

should i just take it where i bought it and let them sort it out? i'm really lost about what to do. i have a $2k computer that sucks. any advice appreciated. i'm sad. i like my alienware stuff. please help.

update: i bought the two year warranty from microcenter so i could deal with actual local people instead of dell. the store is reinstalling windows 10 pro, and they said if it happens again they will just replace the computer. :)

Thanks for the update. Reinstalling Windows 10 should definitely help.

update from a microcenter technician last night. he said there was a system log that indicated repeated hardware failures that usually do not show up unless it's actually a hardware issue.. he said he wouldn't sleep at night knowing that it might not be fixed, so they are going to install my hard drives into another 17r2. pretty neat they'll just replace the thing instead of hoping it's fixed.
