It's glossy but it's the best laptop screen in the world.

Don't ask questions, just get it.

Thanks for the lightning fast reply. Is it a TN panel?

I wouldn't think they would put anything but a TN panel in a gaming laptop.

Trust me, you'll be aroused by how bright and vibrant the colors are. Best investment on the M17x in my opinion.

Also if I may, I suggest pricing out parts like RAM and SSDs online, maybe the Marketplace of this forum. The Dell Samsung SSDs are not bad, but the performance isn't as good as some others, and prices have dropped. The RAM I bought from newegg at $470 is now $214 for 8GB 1333MHz. Not to mention you can upgrade the CPU yourself if your comfortable. Thats how I pieced together my system. I keep all original parts like RAM and CPU (i5 520 in my case) in case I need to send it back for service or anything. You could save money and buy you a bike ;)

Just get things like the dual GPU's up front because upgrading on your own will cost an arm and 1/3 of a leg. Also than they ar covered under the warranty.

    ^^ second that.

I have both M17X RGB LED glossy (TN) and HP8740w 30-bit anti glare (IPS) [ read the review in my sig] and while I see a big difference between the two (the IPS has perfect viewing angles and better color reproduction even in 3x8-bit mode, I must admit that the glossy cover and higher brightness make the RGB LED (TN) a very good choice for a gaming screen. The reasons why I would go (wait!... I did go :)) for IPS is the anti glare feature and the viewing angles.
